Romy Lawson is the Provost at Murdoch University and was previously the Deputy-Vice-Chancellor (Education). Prior to this she held the positions of Pro Vice Chancellor Education at Edith Cowan University, Director of Learning, Teaching & Curriculum at the University of Wollongong and Associate Dean (Teaching & Learning) at James Cook University. She has been actively involved in teaching and learning development in higher education for over 20 years in both the UK and Australia. Romy led the National OLT Strategic Priority Project on Strategies for Curriculum Mapping and Data Collection for Assurance of Learning, and has been a team member in other ALTC funded projects including: Embedding Professionally Relevant Learning in Business Education; and Facilitating staff and student engagement with graduate attribute development, assessment and standards in Business Faculties. In 2013 she was awarded a National OLT Teaching Fellowship for work on Curriculum Design for Assuring Learning.

 Her research has focused on constructive alignment in curriculum design; the effect of different assessment on student learning; curriculum mapping; leadership strategies for curriculum renewal; embedding professional learning in the curriculum; engaging staff and students with graduate attributes; and the impact of professional development on teaching. She has also been an associate editor for the HERD Journal, and senior editor for the Journal of University of Teaching and Learning Practice. She has also held executive roles on national associations including HERDSA, CADAD and ALTF.
