Professor Shalini Bharat is Vice Chancellor of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India and is well known for her work on gender, equity and access issues with special reference to reproductive and women’s health; social determinants of HIV and TB, including stigma, discrimination and human rights issues; health vulnerabilities in the context of migration; and demographic transition among minority communities. Besides administration, teaching and research, Prof. Bharat leads the ‘Saksham’ program, a sub-recipient of Global Fund grant, for developing and implementing psycho-social counseling and social linkages for drug resistant TB patients in four Indian states.

Prof. Bharat serves as member on several national scientific advisory committees and boards and is on the Council of Association of Commonwealth Universities, UK. She has published widely including a 4-Volume Series “Parsis of India: Continuing at the Crossroads” from Sage and “Health and Wellbeing of India’s Young People” from Springer.

Prof. Bharat has a doctorate degree in Psychology from Allahabad University, India.
