Professor Chiapei Chou is the Executive Vice President at National Taiwan University, where she has served for more than thirty years in various roles since obtaining her Ph.D. from the University of Texas, Austin. As Distinguished Professor of Civil and Transportation Engineering, she has won recognition for her excellence in teaching and research – such as the Ministry of Education Excellent Teacher Award, technical paper awards from the Chinese Institute of Engineers, two national CNS specifications, and others.
Professor Chou spent several years in the U.S. serving as the Director of the Science and Technology Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in Washington D.C., where she successfully built sustainable research ties between the United States and Taiwan. In her current position as Executive Vice President, Professor Chou has been focusing on enhancement in the internationalization strategies of the university, through the promotion of double- and multi-degree programs, international research cooperation, university partnerships, and student mobility – all towards the goal of cultivating global talents with international vision. Her other responsibilities include overseeing the development of the NTU International College – which offers interdisciplinary, hands-on graduate programs tailored to addressing real-world issues – and advising the fundraising and development efforts of NTU.
