Grant Cornwell is president of Rollins College (Winter Park, FL), recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the #1 regional university in the South. He took office in 2015 following eight years as president of The College of Wooster (Wooster, OH). Previously, he was vice president of academic affairs and professor of philosophy at St. Lawrence University (Canton, NY).

Under Cornwell’s leadership, applications, enrollment, and student diversity have been the highest in Rollins’ history. He has guided comprehensive strategic planning to better deliver on the College’s mission and improve market position.

Cornwell is recognized for his work in defining liberal learning in a global environment and writes regularly about democracy, diversity, and global citizenship. He is a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU) and past chair of the Association of American Colleges and Universities’ (AAC&U) Presidents’ Trust. He has served on the AAC&U board, the Council on Foreign Relations’ Global Literacy Advisory Board, and the American Council on Education’s Commission on International Initiatives.

Cornwell received his B.A. in philosophy and biology from St. Lawrence University and his M.A. and Ph.D., also in philosophy, from the University of Chicago.
