Professor Jane Schukoske

Jane Ellen Schukoske, of Arlington, Virginia, USA, serves as academic liaison for Sehgal Foundation (USA), and advisor for the Asian Journal of Legal Education, Kolkata, and the Journal of Law Teachers of India, New Delhi. She is a member of the Global Alliance for Justice Education and American Bar Association committees on International Legal Education, Immigration and Naturalization, and on South Asia, Oceania & India. Her publications are available on the Social Science Research Network, www.SSRN.com.

Jane began her career as a legal services attorney, later directed the statewide Virginia Poverty Law Center, and supervised J.D. clinic students at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC. She earned tenure at University of Baltimore School of Law, Maryland, where she taught and established clinics on Housing Law, Environmental Justice, and Community Development. While a Fulbright Scholar at University of Colombo, Sri Lanka, she team taught in a Clinical Legal Education Refresher Course at National Law School of India University, Bengaluru. From 2000-2008, she headed the Fulbright Commission in Delhi, India. She helped with the planning of O.P. Jindal Global University. She served five years as CEO of S M Sehgal Foundation, Gurugram, Haryana, a rural development NGO, and retired in 2016.
